ERA Literary Magazine is looking for passionate and driven individuals aged 13-25 to join our team. ERA empowers young people through self-advocacy and the arts, with a focus on social justice, helping educate individuals on their voices and the world around them. If you’re committed to spreading expression and want to be a part of a meaningful cause, we want you on board!
***You must be between the ages of 13-25!
General Staff & Leadership/Executive Positions:
- General Staff: All applicants must apply to a general staff position. Leadership positions cannot be directly applied for; they are filled through promotion based on demonstrated commitment and capability.
- You may apply for multiple positions, however you will not be selected for more than 1 leadership role (Executive Board: Co-Editor In Chief, Content Director, Podcast Host/Director)
Roles Available:
Editor
- Responsibilities:
- Read and critique literary submissions.
- Provide constructive feedback to contributors, fostering growth and improvement in their work.
- Collaborate with other editors to maintain consistency and quality across all published pieces.
- Ensure that all submissions align with ERA’s mission of self-expression and social justice.
Co-Editor in Chief
- Responsibilities:
- After editors complete their initial evaluations, the Co-Editor in Chief will review and regrade submissions that pass the first round.
- Provide the final decision on which pieces will be published.
- Work closely with editors to maintain a high standard of quality, ensuring that all content resonates with ERA’s mission.
- Collaborate with the Editor in Chief in shaping the vision and overall direction of the magazine’s content.
Note:
The editorial team is key in ERA’s mission. We select pieces and themes that go along our mission, and allow for diverse perspectives and ideas to be shared in our issues.
Content Creator
- Responsibilities:
- Develop engaging content for social media, with a strong focus on reels and other multimedia formats.
- Brainstorm and execute weekly posts that highlight ERA’s mission, upcoming publications, or key social justice issues.
- Stay up-to-date with social media trends to keep ERA’s presence fresh and relevant.
Content Director
- Responsibilities:
- Lead the content creation team by developing agendas and tasks for the Content Creators.
- Oversee the overall content strategy, ensuring that all social media, events, and collaborations align with ERA’s mission.
- Collaborate on special projects, such as partnerships, events, and digital campaigns, to increase ERA’s reach.
- Review content for quality and consistency, ensuring it reflects the voice and values of ERA.
Note:
ERA is a magazine focused on self-advocacy and finding ones voices using art. Our future content should include more of our mission, which means we will be diving into more projects or events that may highlight these ideas. The content team is integral in this, as they will come up with all of the content used to get this mission across.
Podcast Writer/Outreach
- Responsibilities:
- Be part of the launch of ERA’s new podcast department!
- Write scripts and detailed outlines for each podcast episode, ensuring the content is both engaging and educational.
- Reach out to potential interviewees, experts, and activists, scheduling and coordinating interviews for podcast recordings.
- Transcribe podcast episodes for written content to accompany podcast posts.
Podcast Director/Host
- Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary voice and host for ERA’s podcast, shaping each episode with dynamic content and interviews.
- Develop the overall agenda and topics for the podcast, ensuring they align with ERA’s mission and focus on social justice.
- Lead the Podcast Writers/Outreach team, guiding them on research, interviews, and episode themes.
- Engage the audience through authentic discussions on important topics, making the podcast a vital platform for youth expression.
Note:
ERA’s Podcast will be called “Voices of Change”. The sample script shows a glimpse of what the podcast is going to look like. We are planning to bring in different interviewees, like authors, and discuss important social justice issues in relation to art/literature.
